Concrete Resurfacing Costs on the Central Coast: A Realistic Guide

The short answer: on the Central Coast, resurfacing a typical single or double driveway usually lands somewhere between $2,500 and $8,000+, epoxy garage floors run roughly $35 to $120 per square metre, pool surrounds sit around $2,000 to $7,000+, and a grind, recolour and reseal starts from about $800. See our cost per square metre breakdown if you’d rather work from a rate than a whole-of-job figure. Every figure in this guide is an indicative range only: the real number depends on your slab’s size, condition, slope and the finish you choose, which is why every job needs a site inspection and a formal written quote.

Now let’s break down where those numbers come from, so when quotes land in your inbox you can tell a fair price from a fairy tale.

How much does concrete resurfacing cost on the Central Coast?

Central Coast Concrete Revival concrete resurfacing costs typically fall between $2,500 and $8,000+ for a driveway, with pool surrounds, epoxy garage floors and grind-and-seal work following their own indicative ranges below. Size, condition, slope and finish choice are what move a price up or down within these bands, and every figure is confirmed only after a site inspection and formal written quote.

These are guide ranges we see across the Central Coast market. They’re general figures, not quotes: treat anything more precise than this that arrives without a site visit with healthy suspicion.

Job typeIndicative rangeTypical Coast example
Driveway resurfacing (spray-on or overlay)$2,500-$8,000+1980s double driveway in Woy Woy or Bateau Bay, cracked and oil-stained
Pool surround resurfacing$2,000-$7,000+Tired pebblecrete or plain concrete surround in Terrigal or Erina
Epoxy garage or shed floor$35-$120/m² (roughly $1,500-$5,000 for a double garage)Flake epoxy over a dusty original slab in Wyong or Tuggerah
Grinding, recolouring and resealing$800-$3,500Faded stencilled driveway in Umina that just needs its colour and seal back
Path or patio resurfacing$1,000-$4,000Front path and porch refresh on a 70s brick home in Gosford

All figures are indicative Australian guide ranges, dependent on inspection and formal quote. Larger, steeper or badly damaged slabs can exceed these ranges.

Driveway resurfacing cost by finish type and size

Driveway resurfacing is the job type homeowners ask about most, so here’s that line item broken down further: by driveway size and by finish. These figures are drawn directly from the ranges already quoted on our driveway resurfacing and spray-on concrete pages.

Indicative driveway resurfacing cost by finish type and driveway size (Central Coast, guide ranges only)
Driveway size & condition Plain colour finish Stencilled / patterned finish Cement overlay
Single driveway, sound condition $2,500-$4,500 Add roughly 10-25% to the plain-colour price Priced individually; typically higher per m² than spray-on
Double driveway, standard prep $3,500-$6,000 $4,000-$7,000+ Priced individually; typically the highest per m² of the outdoor finishes
Large, steep or heavily cracked driveway $6,000-$8,000+ Add roughly 10-25% to the plain-colour price, often towards the top of the range Priced individually; typically higher per m² than spray-on

All figures are indicative Australian guide ranges only, dependent on a site inspection and formal written quote. Cement overlay figures are shown qualitatively rather than as a price band because indicative overlay pricing isn’t separately published on this site yet; see the concrete finishes guide for how overlays compare with spray-on and epoxy systems.

The seven factors that move the price

Two driveways of identical size can be quoted thousands of dollars apart, and it’s usually for good reason. Here’s what a contractor is actually pricing when they walk your slab:

  1. Size. The obvious one. Most resurfacing work is priced per square metre, so a 30 m² single driveway and a 90 m² double with a turning bay are very different jobs. Small jobs carry a minimum charge: setup, equipment and travel cost the same whether the slab is big or small.
  2. Condition and prep. Prep is where good jobs are won. A sound slab that needs pressure cleaning and minor crack filling sits at the low end. A slab with widespread cracking, spalling (flaking surface), heavy oil staining or old failing coatings that must be ground off pushes the price up: sometimes significantly. Coating over poor prep is the fastest way to a peeling finish.
  3. Slope and access. The Central Coast has some seriously steep driveways: anyone quoting around the Gosford or Terrigal hills knows the drill. Steep slabs are slower and harder to work on, may need extra crew, and often call for a more aggressive slip-resistant texture. Tight battle-axe blocks and limited parking for equipment also add time.
  4. Finish choice. A single-colour spray-on finish costs less than a stencilled pattern, which costs less than a premium decorative overlay. On garage floors, a plain epoxy sits at the bottom of the $35-$120/m² band, full-flake systems in the middle, and metallic or high-build finishes at the top.
  5. Sealer specification. Coastal exposure matters here more than almost anywhere. Salt air and humidity are hard on sealers, and slabs within a few streets of the beach (think Wamberal, The Entrance, Ettalong) genuinely benefit from a higher-grade UV-stable sealer system. It costs a little more upfront and it’s worth every dollar.
  6. Repairs before resurfacing. Cracks can be filled and expansion joints re-cut, but sections that have sunk or lifted may need grinding, levelling compound or, in the worst cases, cutting out and re-pouring before any coating goes down. If your slab’s damage looks structural, read our guide on resurfacing versus replacing concrete before you spend anything.
  7. Extras. Drainage strips, hairpin or feature borders, colour-matching to existing areas, and multi-zone jobs (driveway plus path plus porch) all add scope, though bundling areas into one visit is usually cheaper per square metre than doing them separately.

Three worked examples (indicative only)

Real quotes vary, but these hypothetical scenarios show how the factors stack up.

Example 1: Peninsula double driveway refresh

A flat 55 m² concrete driveway on a 1980s brick home in Woy Woy. Structurally sound, but grey, cracked in a few spots and stained where the old Falcon used to park. Scope: pressure clean, grind out stains, fill cracks, spray-on finish in a two-tone pattern, coastal-grade sealer. Indicative range: $3,500-$5,500.

Example 2: Steep Gosford hills driveway

A 70 m² driveway on a sloping block near Gosford, worn smooth and slippery when wet. Scope: heavy prep, crack repair, spray-on system with a pronounced slip-resistant texture, premium sealer. Steep access slows everything down. Indicative range: $5,500-$8,000+.

Example 3: Wyong double garage epoxy

A 36 m² double garage with a dusty, oil-marked original slab. Scope: diamond grind, oil-spot treatment, moisture check, full-flake epoxy system with clear topcoats. Indicative range: $2,000-$3,600: that’s the middle of the $35-$120/m² band. See our epoxy garage floors page for what’s included at each level.

Is concrete resurfacing cheaper than replacement?

Central Coast Concrete Revival concrete resurfacing is almost always cheaper than replacement, commonly a third to a half of the cost of demolishing and re-pouring the same driveway, because resurfacing skips demolition, tipping fees and a brand-new pour. On a typical Coast double driveway that can mean roughly $4,000 for a revival against $12,000+ for full replacement, provided the existing slab is structurally sound.

The reason resurfacing exists as an industry is simple: ripping out and re-pouring a driveway commonly costs two to three times as much as resurfacing it, once you include demolition, tipping fees, new mesh and concrete, and finishing. On a typical Coast double driveway, that can be the difference between a $4,000 revival and a $12,000+ replacement: provided the slab underneath is structurally sound. That “provided” matters, which is why we wrote a whole decision guide on resurfacing versus replacing.

How to get an accurate quote (and compare them fairly)

  1. Photograph the problem areas: cracks, stains, flaking, sunken corners. Photos let a contractor give you a much tighter indicative range before a site visit.
  2. Measure roughly. Pace out length and width; near enough is fine for a first conversation.
  3. Ask what prep is included. The cheapest quote often skips the grinding and repairs that make the finish last.
  4. Ask which sealer system is specified and whether it’s suited to coastal exposure.
  5. Get it in writing: scope, product system, colours, and what happens if hidden damage turns up once cleaning starts.
  6. Check licensing and insurance. Residential building work in NSW above certain values requires a licensed contractor: requirements change, so check the current thresholds with NSW Fair Trading and ask to sight the licence and public liability insurance. All work arranged through us is quoted and completed by appropriately licensed local contracting partners. Our guide on questions to ask a concrete resurfacing contractor sets out the fuller checklist, including exactly what a confident answer sounds like for each one.

Frequently asked questions

How much does driveway resurfacing cost on the Central Coast?

As an indicative guide, most Central Coast driveway resurfacing jobs land between $2,500 and $8,000+, depending on size, condition, slope and finish. Small, sound, flat driveways sit at the lower end; large, steep or badly damaged slabs with premium finishes sit at the top. A firm price always requires a site inspection.

How much is epoxy garage flooring per square metre?

Indicatively, $35 to $120 per square metre in the Australian market. Plain single-colour epoxy sits at the lower end, decorative flake systems in the middle, and metallic or high-build systems at the top. A standard double garage typically works out around $1,500 to $5,000 depending on the system and the prep required.

Is resurfacing cheaper than replacing concrete?

Almost always, yes: resurfacing typically costs a third to a half of full replacement because you skip demolition, waste removal and a new pour. The catch is that resurfacing only makes sense on a structurally sound slab. If the base has failed, replacement can be the cheaper option long-term.

Why do quotes for the same driveway vary so much?

Usually it comes down to prep and products. A quote that includes diamond grinding, crack repair and a coastal-grade sealer will cost more than one that’s essentially paint over a pressure clean, and it will last years longer. Compare scope line by line, not just the bottom number. If you’re weighing up skipping a contractor altogether and tackling the job yourself, our DIY vs professional concrete resurfacing guide covers the same prep-versus-price trade-off from that angle.

Do coastal homes pay more for resurfacing?

Not necessarily more, but salt-exposed homes should budget for a higher-grade UV-stable sealer, which adds a modest amount to the job. Given how quickly salt air and humidity degrade budget sealers near the beach, it’s the best-value line on the quote.

Are the prices on this page quotes?

No: every figure here is an indicative guide range only. Actual pricing depends on a site inspection and a formal written quote from the licensed contractor doing the work.
