The general Australian answer, and the Coast adjustment
Inland on a standard residential driveway, a quality acrylic sealer applied well can realistically last four to five years before it needs renewal. At that point it still has some film left, but the UV degradation and surface wear have reduced its effectiveness enough that leaving it much longer risks bare concrete being exposed to water and stain absorption.
On the Central Coast, the interval is shorter because three factors are working against the sealer simultaneously. Do not wait for the sealer to look bad before checking it. By the time a sealer is visibly dull, chalky or peeling, water and stains have already been penetrating the concrete beneath.

If the water beads up and sits on the surface like it would on a waxed car bonnet, the sealer is still working.
